I have had to take pictures of aircraft in all sorts of conditions, from ice forming on the aircraft fuselage, thick fog, heavy rain and even at night when there was very little light. Whatever the condition, the pictures need to be taken for record documentation. When carrying out an inspection, it is extremely important to not only document your findings but to have digital evidence of the condition of the aircraft’s exterior and interior so there can be an accurate and complete record of the aircraft at the time the photographs were taken.

There are certain pictures that are required by the legal team of owners and operators to ensure that the correct aircraft, with the right parts, are the same ones sold with the aircraft at a later date or returned to the owners.

Other pictures are required to capture the condition of the aircraft at the time of purchase or the start of the lease. This is so that on return, the aircraft meets the return conditions. Clear and unambiguous pictures need to be taken showing the location from a wider view to a focused view of the particular item. For example, if there is a repair on the fuselage then a picture should be taken of the general area of the fuselage followed by a close-up, showing the details of the repair so that the person viewing the pictures can identify where it is and can see the full extent of all work carried out.

Whichever inspection we have been asked to do on an aircraft would follow this process. We can provide a full digital report on the inspection with a complete set of photographs that we have taken during the requested inspection. These reports can be supplied on a daily or weekly basis depending on the project.
